Nigerian Choral Music Festival and Foundation Northern Regional Convention Ends in Joy in Taraba State

Story by Dili Utomi.
At the time when the Nigerian nation is besieged with different political, social and economic troubles, choral music enthusiasts are promoting the genre as healing balm on the wounds caused on the nation. They are therefore taking the music genre to different parts of the nation for further psychological and spiritual upliftment. A press statement released to us by the Nigerian Choral Music Festival and Foundation (NCMF) on their most recent activity reads:
The Northern Regional Convention of the Nigerian Choral Music Festival and Foundation (NCMF) ended in an atmosphere of joy, gratitude and renewed commitment on Sunday, October 4, 2026, in Takum, Taraba State, with the installation of the Bishop of the Anglican Missionary Diocese of Takum, the Rt. Rev. Rika Garba Ibrahim and retired General, Theophilus Y. Danjuma GCON as Patrons of the Foundation.
The convention, which commenced with an open concert in Jalingo on September 29, 2026, brought together choral music enthusiasts, church leaders, choristers and stakeholders committed to advancing choral music and strengthening unity through music across Northern Nigeria.

The event in Takum was a celebration of fellowship, faith, cultural identity and the transformative power of choral music. The installation of the two distinguished personalities as Patrons marked a significant milestone for the Foundation, reflecting its commitment to building strategic partnerships with respected leaders who can support its vision and mission.
The Foundation expressed profound gratitude to its brothers and sisters in the Northern Region for embracing its vision and actively promoting choral music within their communities. Their commitment demonstrates the growing recognition of choral music as a powerful instrument for unity, youth development, peacebuilding, cultural preservation and national development.
The Northern Regional Convention represents an important step in the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to establish a strong national network of choirs and choral musicians, creating opportunities for collaboration, training, cultural exchange and excellence in choral performance.

The Nigerian Choral Music Festival and Foundation remains committed to its vision of building unity, excellence and national development through choral music, while providing a platform for choristers from diverse backgrounds to connect, develop their talents and contribute meaningfully to society.
As the Northern Region concludes this successful convention, the Foundation looks forward to deeper collaboration, stronger regional structures and greater participation in the forthcoming National Festival scheduled to hold at the University of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, from November 25 to 28, 2026.
The Foundation congratulates the Northern Regional leadership, the host communities in Jalingo and Takum, the newly installed Patrons and everyone who contributed to the success of the convention.

“Indeed, the Northern Regional Convention ended in joy, but its impact will continue to resonate through the voices, partnerships and shared aspirations of choristers across the region and the nation,”.
