GARLANDS FOR AN EXCEPTIONAL COMPLAINTS HEAD, AMBI-MOHAMMED

The main hall of the Nigeria Shippers’ Council was filled to capacity, overflowing into the corridors, Tuesday morning as the curtain falls on the service of their head of complaints unit, Dr. Bashir Ambi-Mohammed. It was a send forth party organised by the his colleagues in his honour.

The chairman of the occasion was the director of planning and strategic research, Mr. Rotimi Anifowoshe who steered the event rather skillfully. In his opening remarks , Mr. Anifowoshe noted that “Dr. Ambi-Mohammeda/turned the complaints department to completment and his desire to succeed has endeared him to everyone”.

Dr. Bashir Ambi-Mohammed is a principled energetic and highly accomplished professional who is known for his integrity, honesty and commitment to excellence.

A trained Mass Communicator, an International Transport Professional and a certified Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Practitioner. He obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from the University of Maiduguri in 1995 and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) Degree in Mass Communication from Lagos State University, Ojo, in 2004, In 2011, he earned another Master of Science (MSc.) Degree in International Transport from Cardiff Business School, Cardiff University. United Kingdom He further obtained a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Mass Communication and Media Technology and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD. in Mass Communication from Lead City University, Ibadan. Nigera.

He commenced his professional career with the Nigenan National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), Mosimi.

He joined the the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) in 2000 as a Public Relations Officer and has since built an outstanding career within the organisation. Up until the moment, he served as the Head of the Complaints Unit. Over the years. he has held several strategic positions within the Council. He served as Personal Assistant to the late Dr. Hassan Muhammad Lawal, former Chairman of the NSC Governing Board and former Minister of Labour, Works and Housing, as well as Supervisory Minister of Health.

He also worked closely with Alhaji Ali Olanusi, former Deputy Governor of Ondo State and former Chairman of the NSC Governing Board.

Dr. Ambi-Mohammed appreciating the good gestures accorded him at the occasion.

Dr. Ambi-Mchammed further served as Personal Assistant to the late Capt. Adamu A. Biu. former Executive Secretary/CEO of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council and a renowned Master Mariner. Throughout Capt. Biu’s two terms in office, he worked with exceptional dedication, loyalty, and professionalism earning the trust and confidence of the Executive Secretary.

There were glowing tributes from many of his colleagues who spoke about the integrity, honesty of purpose and tenacity with which he carried out his work. A few of his colleagues even mimicked Dr. Ambi-Mohammed’s mannerisms as ways of remembering his contributions to the upliftment of the various departments that he worked in within the Council.

His colleagues and other invited guests also presented Dr. Ambi-Mohammed with numerous gifts.

Dr. Ambi-Mohammed who shed a few tears of joy at the level of love showered on him on the day expressively displayed his unquantified happiness at the kind of reception that has been accorded him, what with virtually all the shipping companies sending in their representatives to the send forth party.

He also expressed his delight at the kind of team that the complaint unit is presently having, a team that according to him “are always capable and there to handle issues that come from stakeholders”.

“I am so impressed to have worked with all of you and cannot remember when last I shed some tears like I did today for the warm send forth party that I am witnessing here today”. He said.
