The waves of innovation particularly the various processes of automation happening in the maritime sector especially occassioned by the head of the Nigeria Customs Service are drawing commendations form individuals and the general public.
The latest accolade comes from the President of the Ndigboamaka Progressive Markets Association (NPMA), Hon. Conrade Chinedu Ukatu (FCISM), who is commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dr. Adewale Adeniyi on his remarkable efforts in automating customs licenses and permits and the fast-tracking of cargo clearance processes in the Maritime sector.
The NPMA President applauds Dr. Adeniyi’s visionary leadership in leveraging technology to drive efficiency and transparency in customs operations. He notes that the automation of the processing of Customs licenses and permits is a significant milestone that will reduce delays, increase productivity and boost trade.
Comrade Ukatu ssid “We appreciate your commitment to simplifying procedures, minimising human interface and enhancing security in the clearance process. Your efforts will have a positive impact on the economy and improve the ease of doing business in Nigeria”.
His words “It is also important that I use the same opportunity to plead with the Comptroller-General of Customs to reconsider the ongoing payment of 4 percent free on board charge on imported cargoes and the arbitrary increases on other charges within the Port sector.
Comrade Ukatu seeks a more business friendly regime in the various charges that are imposed on cleared cargoes, he added that the NPMA looks forward to continuous collaboration with the Customs Administration in driving growth and development in the maritime sector.
