The president of the Ndigboamaka Progressive Markets Association (NPMA), an amalgamation of 58 different market associations in and around Lagos, Hon Comrade Chinedu Ukatu (Ike ndi ahia) on Friday, the 20th paid a courtesy visit to the Director-General of the National Agency for Foods, Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in her office.
The NPMA president, was accompanied by Chief Anthony Okeke, General Secretary, Comrade Obinna Obichukwu, public relations officer, Paulinus Ugwu, President Oke Arin traders Lagos, Obi Udenkwor, President Oke Arin Cosmetics dealers, Ejike Ogbonnia, President United Cosmetics dealers Balogun Lagos Island, Chief Jude Okonkwo, Stakeholder Oke ArinTraders and Barr Livinus Adiri, Vice President Aspamda Trade Fair complex and they met with NAFDAC DG, Prof Mojisola Christiana Adeyeye.
The visit was aimed at building symbiotic relationships and strengthening the existing rapport between the two entities.
Since most of these traders are also importers of goods, it is very pertinent that they form alliances with those agencies of government that have direct regulatory control over them, hence the critical nature of the visit.
The association is also desirous of setting up a help desk at NAFDAC, partnering the agency on future engagements for greater collaboration in various areas. It was agreed that the entities move steadily to urgently sign a memorandum of understanding that should iron out grey areas and promote better beneficial relationship for Nigerians in general.
Crucially, a think thank group to come up with the documents that should form a roadmap towards achieving the stated objectives are to be set up immediately. The DG is to nominated two Directors from NAFDAC, Comrade Ukatu the President will nominate two members and they are to explore ways of furthering the engagement going forward.
An Award of Excellence was presented to the DG by the NPMA leaders on behalf of the association.
Meanwhile , the NPMA president in company of some leaders also paid a courtesy visit to the Coordinator of the Zone ‘A’ of the Nigeria Customs Service, Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs, Mohammed Babandede.
The visit was also aimed at building a robust relationship that should create a sense of rapproachment and engender good business ecosystem for members. An earlier written letter for visit to the Comptroller-General of Customs was discussed and the NPMA members were assured of the CG’s eagerness to meet with them in due course.
