NIWA LAYS WATER BUOYS IN NIGER AND KWARA STATES.

The NIWA MD/CEO, Bola Oyebamiji.

To enhance Navigational safety for all water users, the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) has laid water buoys from Gbajibo in Niger state to Gbajibo-Mundi in Kwara state.
The number of buoys used were 10 red colour and 6 green colour. The river is generally deep with the least depth of 21.3m. The Authority is taking this proactive step towards safeguarding our waterways.

These buoys serve as critical markers, indicating safe Navigation channels, warning of hazards and designating protected areas.

It may be recalled during the 2025 Management retreat that the Managing Director/CEO Mr. Bola Oyebamiji emphasised on safety regulations and improve operational efficiency across the Nation’s Inland Waterways.
