Decoration of promoted officers continue as the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command of the Nigeria Customs Service had its own ceremony, Wednesday. The Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Joy Edeldouk used the occasion to detail the Commands recent performance.

Comptroller Edeldouk informed journalists that the a “101% surge in revenue has been recorded for 2024”. She revealed that the Command generated ₦107,182,674,904 compared to ₦53,429,613,592 in 2023.
The CAC stated that the remarkable revenue growth is attributed to the Command’s strategic efforts to strengthen revenue collection, improve compliance, and enhance operational efficiency. She also highlighted that this success can be traced to several key factors including:
Strategic Initiatives: Implementing streamlined processes, leveraging technology, and ensuring excellent stakeholder engagement to facilitate legitimate trade.
Intelligence-Driven Enforcement: Utilizing data analytics and intelligence gathering to identify and combat smuggling, fraud, and other customs offenses.
Capacity Building: Providing regular training and development programs for officers to enhance their skills, knowledge, and professionalism.
Stakeholder Engagement: Fostering collaborative relationships with importers, sister agencies, and other stakeholders to promote compliance and facilitate trade.
Comptroller Edeldouk further stated that the Command intends to implement robust risk management systems and data analytics to enhance revenue collection in 2025.
In all, 37 officers had been newly promoted within the Command. The promoted officers include:
4 Comptrollers
3 Deputy Comptrollers
5 Assistant Comptrollers
7 Chief Superintendents of Customs and others across different ranks.
